The Clarity Way
These are our guiding principles on how we work and show up each day.
We first seek to clarify
We specialize in making complex processes more clear and easy to navigate for families and schools. In order to do this successfully, we need to understand root causes and ground truths. This requires active listening, asking difficult and clarifying questions, explicating assumptions, restating claims for validity, and seeking multiple sources. We apply these principles internally as well, and we recognize that building alignment requires intentional work and communication.
We work in "Owl years"
One human year = four owl years. While prioritizing smoothness, we consistently look for efficiencies and challenge assumptions in an effort to compress timelines. How will we achieve, in one year, results that might take others four years to achieve? How will we achieve, in this quarter, what might take others one year to achieve? We recognize that our time is precious, and compressing timelines is one of our competitive advantages — we seek to make the most impact with the time that we have.
We don't shy away from adventure
Despite our best efforts to Clarify, sometimes we will have to make decisions with imperfect information, but we can adapt swiftly when the situation changes or new information becomes available. In these cases, we will do so with a spirit of adventure — charting new territory, while listening closely for feedback signals. We see challenges as opportunities for growth, both as individuals and as a company.
Freedom of flight
Clarity was launched in the spirit of entrepreneurialism and individual autonomy. We hire Clarifiers who desire this autonomy and continually earn it through consistent performance and high-quality decision making. Internally, we default to trust and assume positive intent from our teammates. We avoid unnecessary structure and continuously look for opportunities to eliminate it.
Smoothness of flight
Owls are known for their smoothness of flight. We believe that being smooth leads to being fast. As a result, we choose to invest in building processes and alignment that increase smoothness so that we can move with sustained speed.
We're focused
We are intentional about the value we want to create and are aggressive in pursuing it. We recognize that everything that exists at Clarity was built by other humans and that its continued growth relies on each of us. In general, we are biased toward action: If there’s a problem we see, we act as owners and consider how we might solve the problem.
